Proverbs 31:25-28

“25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”

Problem

According to the UN, a woman dies every two minutes due to pregnancy or childbirth.

“While pregnancy should be a time of immense hope and a positive experience for all women, it is tragically still a shockingly dangerous experience for millions around the world who lack access to high quality, respectful health care,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). “These new statistics reveal the urgent need to ensure every woman and girl has access to critical health services before, during and after childbirth, and that
they can fully exercise their reproductive rights.” Regrettably, a significant number of pregnant women face financial constraints that prevent them from acquiring the necessary medical supplies for childbirth in Uganda. Consequently, these women are unable to access professional maternity services and are compelled to resort to traditional birth attendants for assistance during delivery at their homes which in most cases leads to death of a child and the mother herself.

Solution

Barn och Kvinnor Organisation strongly believes that every woman is entitled to receive top-notch, expert, and professional maternity care. This is why we affiliate and partner with local maternity hospitals in Uganda to enable us donate

“Mama Kits” to vulnerable women who are extremely struggling financially and are vulnerable.

Mama Kit

A Mama Kit / Labor and Delivery supplies comprises a lovely assortment of essential items such as:

  • 1 receiving sheet
  • 5 pairs of surgical gloves
  • 1 breast pad
  • 2 surgical blades
  • 2 polythene sheets
  • 2 maternity pads
  • toilet soap
  • 2 cord ties
This is to enable a mother have a smooth, clean and safe birth.

Inspiring Change
Several Smiles
at a Time

Our target is to atleast put a smile to over 30 women faces each month by donating 30 kits per hospital visit.

Your generous contribution will go towards supporting our Organisation’s Maternal and Child Health projects in two maternity health facilities for a month. This will ensure a brighter and healthier future for thousands of Ugandan newborns who rely on public healthcare for their well-being.

Each labour/ Mama kit costs €25.00 and is assembled in Uganda. To ensure the health of the mother and baby,
we encourage expectant moms to get at-least third prenatal check-ups from
a local health center during the course of their pregnancy. After their third visit, every expectant woman who cannot afford a mama kit, receives one Mama Kit.

If you support the idea that healthcare should be a fundamental human right, you can make a significant difference by donating €100 each month which can buy 10 mama kits for 10 women.

Invest in healthcare equity – Your £100 can provide 10 women with essential mama kits per month.

Barn och Kvinnor Organisation is dedicated to providing impactful and free public healthcare programs and services to both children’s and Women’s hospitals in Uganda. Our efforts are making a difference by saving the lives of mothers and babies, improving the quality of life for patients in need, and promoting overall well-being for more Ugandans through access to dignified healthcare.
